We're currently in the upside down and mob must band together to protect Country and revive this land we're on.
That's the essence of what Uncle Jason Kerr said in his ‘Welcome’ to participants in our second Powering Up program held on Djandak Country last week.
30 members of Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation (DJAARA) attended to discuss opportunities in clean energy development and partnership.
The ‘Powering Up: Clean energy on Country’ program we’re delivering with the Clean Energy Council seeks to build knowledge and skills in both industry and in communities to ensure First Nations peoples participate in and benefit from Australia's energy transition.
Our program focus with DJARRA reviewed clean energy technologies and developments around the country, and opportunities for community-led solutions and partnerships.
As project owners, business owners, employees, community leaders and landowners, First Nations communities are critical partners in Australia's clean energy transition.
DJARRA knows this, and supports the generation of and investment in renewable energy on Djandak country in Central Victoria to heal people, Country and climate, as outlined in their Renewable Energy Strategy launched in 2022.
While on country, we celebrated with an additional 30 First Nations mob the launch of DJARRA's Renewable Energy Walking Track 2025-2034 and Partnership and Benefit Sharing Guide to help prepare all parties wishing to engage and partner with DJAARA.
The Powering Up program is supported by funding from the Australian Government through the Local Jobs Program.
