Have your say on the Future Acts regime under Native Title

The Australian Law Reform Commission has been asked to review the operation of the future acts regime under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth).

That includes how it may be improved to address any inefficacy, inequality, or unfairness.

They will look at how the future acts regime works, and will consider:

—> options to support native title groups, proponents, and governments, to share in the benefits of development on native title land;

—> whether the regime appropriately provides for new and emerging industries;

—> options for supporting fair negotiations and collaboration.

See the terms of reference here.

If you’re a native title holder or claimant, or have native title business, get involved by contacting 0456 972 868 or [email protected].

The Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) will deliver its final report to the Attorney-General by 8 December 2025.

Good to hear Tony McAvoy SC
