The First Nations Clean Energy Gathering is on in Glenelg, South Australia today with nearly 50 First Nations members and supporters from around the State attending.
The gathering was pulled together by the Network as an opportunity for First Nations leaders, Traditional Owners, and community representatives in South Australia to come together and talk about the opportunities, and the barriers, to shaping a clean energy future in the State.
Participants included people who work in the clean energy sector, and others interested in learning more about clean energy.
The day included short presentations on flagship First Nations-led renewable energy projects both in and outside the State.
Participants were assisted with a South Australia Briefing Paper providing an update on energy policies and frameworks in the State.
The Briefing Paper also included information about how electricity is supplied to communities, why unplanned power interruptions occur, the types of renewable energy solutions that may assist communities reduce energy costs and improve power supply, and the equity partnership opportunities knocking on people’s doors and how to negotiate good agreements.
