Tyronne Garstone on committee to advise on Nature Repair Market

One of our fabulous steering group members Tyronne Garstone has been appointed a member of the government's Nature Repair Committee, advising on Australia's Nature Repair Market.

The Nature Repair Market is a voluntary legislated national market encouraging First Nations people and businesses, landowners and farmers, to invest in projects that restore and protect country.

Eligible individuals and organisations can undertake nature repair projects to generate a tradable certificate that can be sold to generate income.

When the Nature Repair Market opens in 2025, applicants can apply to the Clean Energy Regulator. The Regulator will register biodiversity projects, assess project reports, and issue biodiversity certificates.

The rules of the market are still being developed. The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is asking for feedback now on the proposed policy that will inform the development of the rules. See here.

Tyronne, a Bardi man and CEO of the Kimberley Land Council, is joined on the independent committee by Steve McCutcheon, James Fitzsimons, Brendan Foran, Fiona Simson and Siobhan Toohill.

The Kimberley Land Council is one of four partners in the Aboriginal Clean Energy Partnership developing the East Kimberley Clean Energy Project.

Congratulations Tyronne!!
