Name of program: Disaster Relief Grants

What is it for: To support those most in need and those least able to return their homes to a safe and habitable condition after a natural disaster 

Who is it for: 

  • low income earners

What’s available:

  • Household Goods Grant: a maximum of $18,000 is available as a contribution toward the cost of re-establishing essential household items considered necessary to maintain a basic standard of living. Items include bedding, furniture, clothing and essential electrical items such as a refrigerator, washing machine, or stove.
  • Rough Sleepers/Camping Package: a flat rate of $1,200 is available plus $150 for each additional resident as a contribution to replacing essential items, such as a tent and sleeping bag. 
  • Repair Grant: A contribution towards essential structural repairs to a Residence (including a relocatable home) to assist in restoring it to a safe and habitable condition – grant amount is determined based on assessment of scope of works and threshold considerations.  
  • Rebuild Grant: A contribution towards the rebuild of a  residence (including a relocatable home) to a basic level that has been rendered uninhabitable – grant amount is determined based on assessment of scope of works and threshold considerations.
  • Temporary Dwelling Grants: a Flat-rate Temporary Dwelling Package – flat rate of $5,000 for repairs and $10,000 if the temporary dwelling has been rendered uninhabitable.    
  • Access Grant: A contribution of up to $50,000 towards a basic level of repairs to legal accessways on private property where there are no safe alternate routes to the residence or temporary dwelling (and where the Accessway was maintained and fit for purpose prior to the natural disaster).  

Who's funding it? NSW Reconstruction Authority

Conditions: 

  • It has been less than 6 months since the disaster, and that the grant provided allows for the safe and habitable return of a resident to their home

  • Family Energy Rebate - helps people with children pay their electricity bills
  • Gas Rebate - helps eligible concession card holders pay their gas or bottled Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) bills
  • Life Support Energy Rebate - helps pay electricity bills for people who need, or have someone living with them who needs, to use approved energy-intensive life support equipment at home (such as home dialysis, ventilators and oxygen concentrators)
  • Low Income Household Rebate - helps eligible concession cardholders pay their electricity bills
  • Medical Energy Rebate - helps concession cardholders pay their electricity bills, for people who are not able to, or have someone living with them who is not able to, self-regulate their body temperature in extreme environmental temperatures (hot or cold)

Name of program: Shoalhaven Solar & Battery Program

Intended outcome: 

  • to help Shoalhaven homeowners get solar installed and become energy independent

Who is it for:

  • Homeowners

Who’s funding it? Shoalhaven Solar Program

Conditions:

  • applicants can claim $2,400 - $10,000 in rebates and subsidies depending on system size requirements
