Ramahyuck was a 4.9MW solar farm in Longford, Victoria, wholly owned/operated by the Ramahyuck District Aboriginal Corporation, incorporating the Gunai / Kurnai people.
The grid-connected PV system was reportedly going to provide a 20 year plus income stream.
The Ramahyuck District Aboriginal Corporation received a $1 million grant from the Victorian Government in 2021 for the construction of the solar farm.
During 2022, additional financial due diligence was completed on the Ramahyuck Solar Farm project and the recommendation not to proceed was put to the Board and Ramahyuck members. The project was deemed not financially viable. AusNet Services confirmed they would be happy to re-start the project in the future if required.
According to its latest Annual Report 2022, most of the work undertaken was funded by external agencies including the Indigenous, Land
& Sea Corporation (ILSC), National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA), AusNet Services and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP).
