Junja Solar Farm

The 10 megawatt (MW) Junja Solar Farm is a $25 million dollar demonstration project to be located approximately 26km east of Port Hedland on the Great Northern Highway, Western Australia.

Three parties are involved in the development of farm, including Jinparinya Aboriginal Corporation, the Ngarla People via Wanparta Aboriginal Corporation, and Pilbara Solar (Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation owns 50% of Pilbara Solar).

Once developed, power generated from the solar farm will be exported to the local electricity grid with Horizon Power as the off-taker, likely making it the first utility scale solar farm connected on the North West Interconnected System (NWIS).

It is estimated the Junja Solar Farm will generate monetary benefits to all First Nations parties involved over its lifetime.
